Witty, erudite, thoroughly captivating.... Tom Disch and Charles Naylor have given vidid fictional life to a wide rang of mid-century characters.

This book is a fine tribute to that most creative region of London, and it is an admirable rendering of its most creative time.

Witty and graceful, disclosing the eccentric essence of each colleague and rival (and so of the whole era) in wry details.
