PCHP Gets New Editorial Team

A new editorial team has been chosen to lead the groundbreaking journal Progress in Community Health Partnerships: Research, Education, and Action (PCHP).

Alvin H. Strelnick, Assistant Dean for Community Engagement at New York's Albert Einstein College of Medicine, will take over as Editor-in-Chief from Northwestern University's Darius Tandon in early April. The journal is published by the Johns Hopkins University Press.

"PCHP showcases work that can truly changes lives, and I look forward to serving as just the third Editor-in-Chief in the journal's history," said Strelnick, who holds academic positions in the Department of Family and Social Medicine and Department of Epidemiology & Population Health at Einstein. He also is Chief of the Division of Community Health in the Department of Family and Social Medicine. "I am grateful to the board and the Johns Hopkins University Press for choosing my team for this honor."

Tandon served as editor-in-chief of the journal since 2012 after assuming the mantle from founding editor Eric Bass. Tandon had served as Deputy Editor since PCHP's first issue in 2007.

"While I find it hard to say goodbye to something I have worked on for more than a decade, I know that Dr. Strelnick and his team will continue the outstanding work readers of PCHP have come to expect," said Tandon, Associate Professor of Medical Social Sciences at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern.

A national, peer-reviewed journal, PHCP seeks to identify and publicize model programs that use community partnerships to improve public health, promote progress in the methods of research and education involving community health partnerships, and stimulate action that will improve the health of people and communities.

Founded at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, PCHP was the first scholarly journal dedicated to Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR). The journal will publish its 12th volume in 2018.

Managing editors Racheline Habousha and Nancy Glassman will lead Strelnick's editorial team for the quarterly. Both Habousha and Glassman work at The D. Samuel Gottesman Library at Einstein.
