Reviews
This concise yet comprehensive monograph provides medically sound and commonsense advice for families of patients with tics or Tourette syndrome, filled with exemplary case studies and evidence-based recommendations. From Tourette's history to a modern understanding, this priceless guide provides real explanations, and solutions, for tic disorders and their associated conditions.
I expected Dr. Bamford's A Parent's Guide to Tics and Tourette's Disorder to be a useful source of information for patients and families, and it is. But it is much more. The book is beautifully written and well organized, resulting in crystal-clear clinical descriptions and explanations. I will certainly recommend the book to patients, but a lot of us physicians should also read it.
A tour-de-force review of tics and Tourette's disorder by renowned physician-scientist Nigel S. Bamford, MD, who reviews the history and terminology, explains possible causes and associated conditions, and provides hope regarding future therapies. Written primarily for caregivers and patients, this guide is indispensable for medical professionals and advocacy groups.
My son has seen Dr. Bamford for the past few years. Dr. Bamford's knowledge and understanding of Tourette's is beyond compare. This book provides the insight that allows parents and patients to understand the condition in a straightforward manner. Amazing read and I highly recommend the content!
