Peer Review Policy

The print editions of the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs adhere to a rigorous, double-blind peer review process. Potential peer reviewers for solicited and submitted articles are attribute screened. If a peer reviewer passes attribute screening, s/he/they receive a clean copy of the most up-to-date version of the solicited or submitted article from our editorial staff with all references to the article’s author redacted. Peer reviewers then evaluate an article using a standardized form by commenting on the relevance and uniqueness of the article’s content before selecting from one of five options for moving forward with the article, ranging from ‘do not publish’ to ‘publish with no edits.’ Editorial staff then send feedback from the peer review process without any references to the identity of the peer review to the author of the piece so that s/he/they can implement relevant edits. Our editorial staff then work with the author and the peer reviewer while maintaining confidentiality of both parties to ensure that the author implements the suggestions arising from the peer review process to the appropriate extent.
