The Hopkins Press Journals Ethics and Malpractice Statement can be found at the ethics-and-malpractice page.
To be considered for publication in L’Esprit Créateur, articles must be original unpublished work written in English or French and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Each issue of L’Esprit Créateur focuses on a specific topic, author or critical issue. Articles should be related to the announced topic of a forthcoming issue.
The guest editor(s) of each issue review all submitted and invited articles; articles submitted to the general editors receive an assessment before being forwarded to the guest editor(s), who review all articles and select a preliminary slate of articles to be assessed by the general editors. Articles may undergo blind review before they are submitted to the general editors for final approval. Authors of accepted articles receive edited versions of their article from guest editors with suggestions for revision; revised articles are sent to the general editors who prepare a copy-edited version of the article, which may contain additional suggestions for revisions. Authors review and correct proofs of their article. Articles are published approximately six to nine months following final acceptance.
Criteria for reviewing articles include: the articles’ relevance to the topic of the special issue; the quality of scholarship; the articles’ engagement with critical debate; and their contribution to creating new critical perspectives in the area of French and Francophone Studies and the critical humanities more broadly.
